Why were the cupcakes horrible, exactly? It sounds as though the only problem is that the liners stuck to the cupcakes. Were you able to at least try any of the baked cupcakes? Were the cupcakes horrible because the papers stuck horribly to the cakes, or because the recipe tasted horrible and was the culprit? Lauren, the contributor of the recipe, cannot control whether or not liner papers horribly stick to the cakes. Maybe Lauren or Carrie could amend the recipe to recommend spraying the liners before filling to ensure easy removal. Peace.

Hi Anita. I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble with this recipe.

There are some culprits that can cause cupcake liners to stick. Generally, cupcakes will stick to the wrapper if it is still warm. It is best to wait until the cupcake is completely cool before peeling. Overbaking the cupcake can also cause this to happen. And sometimes the paper liner itself can cause trouble. If all else fails, you can always bake a cupcake directly in the muffin tin, well buttered or coated with non-stick cooking spray.

I hope these insights help for next time.

I just baked these cupcakes and they are delicious. I didn't have root beer extract (I don't think they sell that in Austria) so they don't taste a lot like root beer but it's still nice. I only made half the amount of cream which was a mistake as the cream is delicious as well. I used only 1 cup of sugar for it though and definitely won't add the second one, I think it is sweet enough already.
Thanks for the recipe!
